In 1985, Don and Blanche Wolfard's love of boating, and a dream to turn that love into a livelihood, lead them to purchase Drakes Creek Marina. Drakes Creek was the first marina built on Old Hickory Lake, it was already in place when the lake was flooded in 1954. By 1985, the marina was very run-down and in need of much clean up, repair and upgrading. Over the years, a lot of hard work has been put into the marina to make it one of the finest facilities on Old Hickory Lake. We are located near the mouth of Drakes Creek, just off the main channel of the Cumberland River at mile marker 222.2. Our marina is conveniently located for all boating activities on Old Hickory, as well as transient river traffic. It is a pleasant days excursion to Riverfront Park in Downtown Nashville, which is approximately 30 miles.
Drakes Creek Marine Works has grown over the years. Today it has 201 wet slips for boat storage and 214 dry storage spaces. A 35-ton travel lift, as well as 3 marina forklifts are available to move boats. Our dock store was once a boathouse that housed a motor yacht used to take visiting dignitaries on tours of the U.S. Corps of Engineers Lakes. The marina has a large service facility with a 3 building shop. We also boast a parts department that is well stocked with many parts and accessories for your boating needs.
